Overview
Product & regulatory status
The cited lifespan results are from mice, not people.
Selective rather than universal effects
The research examined reduced senescence markers in some cell populations. These laboratory endpoints are different from demonstrating removal of harmful cells throughout a person. [1]
What the evidence shows
Human chemotherapy-adjunct trial
A randomized chemotherapy-adjunct trial had 37 colorectal-cancer completers. Only the IL-8 change differed significantly between groups; the trial did not establish lifespan extension, senescent-cell clearance or cancer-control benefit. [2]
Senescence experiments
A 2018 study screened flavonoids in senescent cell systems and found fisetin affected selected senescence markers. Responses varied by cell type, so it should not be described as universally clearing damaged cells. [1]
Mouse lifespan results
The same research reported improved health-related measures and lifespan in aged mice. Human tissue experiments supported further investigation, but tissue outside the body is not a clinical treatment trial. [1]
What remains unknown
Clinical benefit, reliable human senolytic exposure, and the consequences of repeated use remain uncertain in the evidence reviewed here.
Safety
A food component is not a tested regimen
The experiments do not validate concentrated fisetin products, repeated treatment schedules, or combinations with other senolytics for people. Effects in mice cannot establish human long-term safety. [1]
Experimental material versus supplements
The senescence study used specified experimental preparations across cells, tissue, and mice. It did not compare marketed human supplements or validate a formulation that reliably produces senolytic effects in people. [1]
Understanding product quality
Compounded drugs are not FDA-approved finished products. Poor preparation can cause contamination or incorrect strength. A catalog entry or a research paper is not a quality assessment of your product. [3]
When to seek urgent help
Severe allergic symptoms such as trouble breathing, throat or tongue swelling, or fainting need immediate help. Call 911 or your local emergency number. This is general emergency information, not a complete list of risks for this compound. [4]
A starting point for discussion
This is not a complete list of adverse effects or interactions. Your health history, other medicines, and the exact formulation matter. Missing safety data is not evidence of safety.
Common questions
Is eating foods with fisetin equivalent to a senolytic treatment?
No. A compound being present in food does not establish that a concentrated supplement produces a specific therapeutic effect.
Questions for your clinician
Does the evidence match my condition and this exact product? What risks or interactions matter for me? How would we assess whether it is helping?
