Kisspeptin-10

A short kisspeptin fragment that stimulates reproductive-hormone signalling. Early human endocrine studies are interesting, but raising luteinizing hormone is not the same as improving libido, fertility or wellbeing.

Investigational / researchSmall human physiology studies; therapeutic benefit and long-term safety remain uncertain.

Overview

Product & regulatory status

Investigational; FDA has identified safety-information and peptide-quality concerns for compounded use.

Upstream reproductive signalling

Kisspeptin-10 acts upstream of pituitary gonadotropin release; the male studies demonstrate stimulation of LH secretion. [1]

What the evidence shows

Hormone response in men

A 2011 study used very small groups of healthy men and found increased luteinizing hormone secretion and testosterone responses to kisspeptin-10. The study measured endocrine physiology, not pregnancies, sustained symptom relief or sexual satisfaction. [1]

Response depends on context

Another 2011 study found different gonadotropin responses in men and women at different menstrual-cycle stages. This argues against assuming a uniform response across people, reproductive conditions or hormone backgrounds. [2]

What remains unknown

The relation between short-term hormone changes and meaningful clinical benefit is unresolved. These studies cannot validate routine use during testosterone therapy or a fertility guarantee.

Safety

Immune reactions and purity

FDA notes possible immunogenicity, peptide-related impurities and insufficient safety information for proposed routes. [3]

Small samples cannot establish broad safety

Short physiological experiments are not powered to detect uncommon events, pregnancy effects or consequences of prolonged exposure. [2]

The research preparation matters

Experimental administration and commercial compounded products can differ in purity, stability and exposure. The cited trials are not product-equivalence studies. [3]

Understanding product quality

Compounded drugs are not FDA-approved finished products. Poor preparation can cause contamination or incorrect strength. A catalog entry or a research paper is not a quality assessment of your product. [4]

When to seek urgent help

Severe allergic symptoms such as trouble breathing, throat or tongue swelling, or fainting need immediate help. Call 911 or your local emergency number. This is general emergency information, not a complete list of risks for this compound. [5]

A starting point for discussion

This is not a complete list of adverse effects or interactions. Your health history, other medicines, and the exact formulation matter. Missing safety data is not evidence of safety.

Common questions

Is kisspeptin-54 research evidence for kisspeptin-10?

They are different peptide lengths. A study must be checked for the exact molecule and preparation.

Would a higher LH result prove fertility improved?

No. Hormonal responses, semen measures, ovulation, pregnancy and live birth are different outcomes.

Questions for your clinician

Does the evidence match my condition and this exact product? What risks or interactions matter for me? How would we assess whether it is helping?
