Overview
Product & regulatory status
The cited pineal research does not establish an insomnia indication.
Circadian hypothesis
The research explores age-related pineal hormone regulation. It does not demonstrate that Epitalon acts like an approved hypnotic or that a hormonal change will improve sleep. [1]
What the evidence shows
Small human biomarker study
A small placebo-controlled human study measured melatonin-related biomarkers after sublingual AEDG. It did not establish insomnia treatment or report safety data. [2]
Melatonin research in monkeys
A study of female rhesus monkeys compared age-related pineal function and responses to pineal peptide preparations. Epitalon was associated with increased nighttime melatonin in older animals, but not a corresponding effect in younger animals. [1]
Hormone changes are not sleep outcomes
The experiment measured hormonal rhythms in monkeys. It did not show improved sleep quality, daytime function, or treatment of insomnia in people. [1]
What remains unknown
The clinical relevance of altered melatonin, the effect in people with sleep complaints, and a safe long-term exposure remain uncertain.
Safety
Cell-aging findings do not validate sleep use
Epitalon has also been investigated for telomere-related effects in cultured cells. Those findings neither establish a sleep benefit nor answer the long-term safety questions of bedtime use. [3]
Separate peptide from pineal extract
The monkey study distinguished synthetic Epitalon from epithalamin, a pineal peptide preparation. These are different study materials; their findings and preparation details should not be merged into one bedtime product protocol. [1]
Understanding product quality
Compounded drugs are not FDA-approved finished products. Poor preparation can cause contamination or incorrect strength. A catalog entry or a research paper is not a quality assessment of your product. [4]
When to seek urgent help
Severe allergic symptoms such as trouble breathing, throat or tongue swelling, or fainting need immediate help. Call 911 or your local emergency number. This is general emergency information, not a complete list of risks for this compound. [5]
A starting point for discussion
This is not a complete list of adverse effects or interactions. Your health history, other medicines, and the exact formulation matter. Missing safety data is not evidence of safety.
Common questions
Why are there two names in Kairo?
Existing records use both Epithalon and Epitalon (nightly). They share the same core peptide identity; educational claims should not be counted as independent evidence simply because the label differs.
Questions for your clinician
Does the evidence match my condition and this exact product? What risks or interactions matter for me? How would we assess whether it is helping?
