This entry or formulation may be investigational and may not correspond to an FDA-approved product; safety and efficacy may not have been established. Kairo lists it for identification and record-keeping only.
Overview
Product & regulatory status
This guide summarizes a clinical trial, not a U.S. product approval.
Signaling bias
The report describes ecnoglutide as a cAMP-biased GLP-1 receptor agonist. Bias refers to downstream signaling, not a safety rating. [1]
What the evidence shows
Obesity trial population
A phase 3 trial randomized 664 Chinese adults with overweight or obesity without diabetes. Its main weight endpoints were assessed at week 40. [1]
What changed
Mean weight reductions ranged from about 9% to 13% across active arms, compared with essentially unchanged weight on placebo. These are group averages within one study. [1]
What remains unknown
The trial does not prove superiority over another GLP-1 medicine because its comparison was placebo. It does not establish long-term cardiovascular outcomes.
Safety
Adverse events
Gastrointestinal events were most common, and ten ecnoglutide recipients stopped treatment because of adverse events. A positive efficacy result does not mean everyone tolerates therapy. [1]
Study route
The trial used subcutaneous ecnoglutide. Results do not validate differently formulated research products. [1]
Understanding product quality
Compounded drugs are not FDA-approved finished products. Poor preparation can cause contamination or incorrect strength. A catalog entry or a research paper is not a quality assessment of your product. [2]
When to seek urgent help
Severe allergic symptoms such as trouble breathing, throat or tongue swelling, or fainting need immediate help. Call 911 or your local emergency number. This is general emergency information, not a complete list of risks for this compound. [3]
A starting point for discussion
This is not a complete list of adverse effects or interactions. Your health history, other medicines, and the exact formulation matter. Missing safety data is not evidence of safety.
Common questions
Does signaling bias guarantee fewer side effects?
No. A molecular design feature is a hypothesis about pharmacology; clinical tolerability must be measured.
Questions for your clinician
Does the evidence match my condition and this exact product? What risks or interactions matter for me? How would we assess whether it is helping?
