Overview
Product & regulatory status
The cited trials do not establish a routine insomnia treatment.
What the evidence shows
Early volunteer study
A double-blind crossover experiment in six volunteers reported some immediate and delayed sleep changes. Such a small study can suggest a signal but cannot establish consistent benefit across people with insomnia. [1]
Insomnia results were less convincing
A later study in chronic insomnia reported changes in several sleep measures, but these were not significantly different from baseline or placebo nights. Positive early observations need to be considered alongside negative comparisons. [2]
What remains unknown
Reliable clinical effectiveness, long-term safety, and interactions with other sleep-affecting substances are unresolved by these trials.
Safety
Do not infer broad safety from six volunteers
The initial study reported no observed adverse effects during its limited assessment. Its size was far too small to rule out uncommon harms or evaluate sustained use. [1]
Research route is not a recommendation
Older studies used supervised administration. They do not establish equivalence for modern consumer sprays, powders, or other preparations. [1]
Understanding product quality
Compounded drugs are not FDA-approved finished products. Poor preparation can cause contamination or incorrect strength. A catalog entry or a research paper is not a quality assessment of your product. [3]
When to seek urgent help
Severe allergic symptoms such as trouble breathing, throat or tongue swelling, or fainting need immediate help. Call 911 or your local emergency number. This is general emergency information, not a complete list of risks for this compound. [4]
A starting point for discussion
This is not a complete list of adverse effects or interactions. Your health history, other medicines, and the exact formulation matter. Missing safety data is not evidence of safety.
Common questions
Would better wearable sleep scores prove DSIP works?
No. Wearable estimates, night-to-night variation, and other changes can influence scores. Controlled clinical sleep outcomes provide stronger evidence than an individual before-and-after comparison.
Questions for your clinician
Does the evidence match my condition and this exact product? What risks or interactions matter for me? How would we assess whether it is helping?
